DAVIS-WS |
The cabled Davis Weather Station connects to the nM Automated Monitoring Node via the RS485 protocol. It reports windspeed/direction, solar radiation, temperature, humidity, and rainfall. From this data, additional datapoints such as ETo, Vapor Pressure Deficit, and Dew Point can be calculated on the nM Hub.
The Davis Weather station connects to the neatMon Automated Monitoring node via the A, B, and GND ports and the 3v Constant Expansion header.
First, you will need to open a serial terminal to the AMN and arrive at the NeatMon Main Menu. Be sure to disconnect any solar panel or external charger before connecting with USB.
If you are unsure how to do this check the Opening Serial Terminal guide.
NOTE: Sleep mode > 1: Light Sleep must be selected for Davis-WS to function. Firmware 2.51 and newer automatically set the node to Light Sleep when Davis-WS is added. For instructions on manually setting Sleep and Power modes, visit the Utility Menu Reference page.

Sensor: Updating sleep mode to light sleep
Enter sample rate (mins): >15
In Firmware 251 and newer, the node will be set to light sleep. You can now define how often the sensor will read. If you are unsure, the default is 15 minutes and should rarely be changed. Type your desired sample rate and then press enter.
NOTE: Selecting a sample rate less than 15 minutes may result in increased subscription costs. Please contact neatMon for more information.

When deployed, the cable from the sensor should not be kinked or pinched, a gentle sweep is recommended.
It is recommended to add a loose service loop between the AMN and the DAVIS-WS in the event that the cable is incidentally pulled on.
Please see the Davis Instruments website for further installation and sensor information.
